Photography Ideas for your farm to table business
Somewhere between the long hours of farming, milking, herding or cooking you have established yourself as a staple in your community and now you are ready to send it out in the world… but where do you start? Photography is a vital aspect of any farm-to-table business, as it helps to showcase the quality and freshness of your products. Here are a few photography ideas that can help to promote your farm-to-table business:
Show off your produce:
One of the most important things you can do is to photograph your produce in a way that highlights its freshness and quality. This can be done by using natural light and shooting your produce on a clean, white background. You want your produce to stand out above all else in the image.
2. Capture the farm life: Show your customers where their food comes from and the faces behind it by taking photos of your farm, your animals, and your farmers. This can include pictures of your fields, barns, and other structures, as well as shots of your farmers at work.
3. Highlight your cooking process:
Take pictures of your consumers or chefs preparing and cooking your farm-to-table dishes to give your customers a behind-the-scenes look at what can be done with what you are offering them. Wether its in the kitchen or on a grill this is where your farm to table idea really starts to come to life for your ideal customer.
4. Show the final product: Finally, make sure to take pictures of your dishes as they are served to your customers or how it can be used by the consumer for their family. This will give people an idea of what to expect when they visit your farm-to-table restaurant or once they get home with your produce.
4. Share your story:
Use your photography to tell the story of your farm, your farmers, and your food. You want to connect with your customers? Then show them the heart and soul behind what you are doing and why you are doing it. This can include photos of your farm throughout the seasons, how you involve your family/ employees in your vision, as well as images that highlight your commitment to sustainable and responsible farming practices.
5. Utilize social media: Share your photographs on your social media platforms to engage with your customers and give them a glimpse into your farm-to-table business. We all know the power of social media at this point, and the key is to create something shareable to allow your consumers to help you spread the word… the more the merrier I say :)
By utilizing these photography ideas, you can create a visual representation of your farm-to-table business that will entice customers to come and experience the freshness and quality of your produce. These type jobs have become a bit of a passion project for me, not only because the beautiful images it produces, but meeting the faces behind such amazing products fills my soul!
